Who will challenge Creepy Pete in IL-06?

So petitions have started and apparently there isn't a Democrat yet running in IL-06. Jill Morgenthaler has told me said she needs significant support from DC in order to run. I'm assuming that means she needs significant support from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee as well as other Democratic and progressive-leaning PAC's and institutions.

In other words, these fools better not leave her hanging if she decides to take on ol' Creepy again. Last time around, it was pretty apparent that she didn't get the kind of resources and institutional support allocated to Tammy Duckworth's campaign in 2006. She was largely left to fend for herself as a first time candidate. It went as well as could be expected, even in the year of President Barack Obama. A badly planned and executed campaign will turn out badly, almost without question.

So far as I can tell, Jill Morgenthaler is our best bet to beat Creepy Pete. I'm hoping she runs.

I don't know if I'm so jazed about Jill. i like her on a personal level but she gave me what turned out to be a BS answer to questions I asked her about Abu Gharib.(sp) They sounded good when I heard then but turned sour when further documents were released.

I glad to see you are still around. I thought you ran away to join the circus.

Ran off and joined the circus....I suppose that's one way to describe it!

The only thing that dissatisfied me about Jill Morgenthaler the last time around was her lackluster campaign. This wasn't surprising given the lack of Democratic institutional support.

I never asked her about Abu Ghraib, but I assume it was a carefully crafted position mean for the top military PR officer? I guess I'd never expect a career military candidate to come out swinging against anything the military did.

Welcome back!

Jill didn't do it for me. It wasn't her campaign, but every time she spoke she gave me nothing of substance just Roskum is bad. I wanted to hear more about how she is good than he is bad.

Ben Lowe, running in 6th District

Ben Lowe, a Wheaton College graduate, is running against Roskam. He lives nearby so I rode my bicycle to his apartment to sign his petition and meet him and his staff. He has enough signatures to get on the primary ballot. I don't know much about him and am not ready to commit to working for or donating to his campaign. But, if Obama can win a Nobel Prize for not being George Bush, then Ben can certainly run for Congress on a platform of not being that chucklehead Peter Roskam. In lieu of a strong, formidable candidate of the caliber of Christine Cegelis, Ben will at least prevent sneaky Pete from coasting to yet another term. He now has a Web site of sorts. Unfortunately, I couldn't locate the URL from Google. Maybe someone else can supply.
